WHO WE ARE

Cornerstone Development dates back to 1988. Its first academy was established in Uganda in 1994, with the aim of promoting the nation’s reconstruction and development as it emerged from a turbulent past. Over the past 10 years. The vision of Cornerstone Development Africa was introduced to DR Congo in August 2010 by Allan Shepherd during his visit to Goma University. After that some Congolese participated in the Uganda National Prayer Breakfast and the AYLF Gathering in October 210. Among the participants, Joël Asimwe from Beni, Patrick Bandema, Emmanuel Baraka and others.

In Jun 2013 an AYLF francophone Gathering was held in Bujumbura and brought together young people from Goma, Bukavu and Uvira. Then later in August another conference took place in Goma at Hotel Karibu, and small groups started emerging in different Universities, especially in Goma and Bukavu. In 2015, the AYLF Country Coordination was formed under the leadership of Emmanuel Baraka, with some volunteers.

Our Core Values

Love We maintain a Jesus-centered culture of unconditional love, among ourselves and our neighbors, appreciating our diversity (religious, political, racial, gender, etc) and viewing all as equal created in the image of God.

Integrity We focus on a value-centered wholesomeness of individual character in both our private and public lives as a foundation for trust and confidence in our community and organization.

Friendship We place a priority on relationships among staff and beneficiaries, realizing that our higher purpose, the spiritual life, can only be lived out through our relationships with each other.

Excellence We commit to excellence in professional and organizational terms, being strategic in our learning and growth, being transparent in our dealings and decision making, and striking a balance between formality and informality in our work so as to not lose sight of the bigger picture at hand.
