Cornerstone Development dates back to 1988. Its first academy was established in Uganda in 1994, with the aim of promoting the nation’s reconstruction and development as it emerged from a turbulent past. Over the past 10 years. The vision of Cornerstone Development Africa was introduced to DR Congo in August 2010 by Allan Shepherd during his visit to Goma University. After that some Congolese participated in the Uganda National Prayer Breakfast and the AYLF Gathering in October 210. Among the participants, Joël Asimwe from Beni, Patrick Bandema, Emmanuel Baraka and others.
In Jun 2013 an AYLF francophone Gathering was held in Bujumbura and brought together young people from Goma, Bukavu and Uvira. Then later in August another conference took place in Goma at Hotel Karibu, and small groups started emerging in different Universities, especially in Goma and Bukavu. In 2015, the AYLF Country Coordination was formed under the leadership of Emmanuel Baraka, with some volunteers.
